Job Description

A leading Utilities, Site & Civil Contractor in central and southwest Virginia is seeking an experienced Heavy Civil Construction Project Manager to oversee site-civil projects, utilities work, and field operations. This role is ideal for a motivated self-starter who can manage budgets, schedules, subcontractors, and client relationships with minimal supervision.

Responsibilities

  • Manage heavy civil/site-civil projects from start to finish

  • Oversee schedules, manpower, equipment, and daily site activities

  • Track changes, delays, and project impacts

  • Prepare owner change orders and monthly billings

  • Review subcontractor pay apps and vendor invoices

  • Perform material and quantity take-offs

  • Solicit and evaluate subcontractor/vendor quotes

  • Maintain estimating tools, spreadsheets, and databases

  • Coordinate with owners, subcontractors, vendors, field staff, and office teams

Requirements

  • 6 years of heavy civil or site-civil construction experience (Virginia preferred)

  • Strong utilities construction background

  • Ability to read plans and specifications

  • Excellent communication and problem-solving skills

  • Strong computer skills; Excel proficiency required

  • Estimating experience is a plus
