- POSITION SUMMARY/CLASS DESCRIPTION
This position would be knowledgeable of individuals experiencing cognitive impairment and/or memory loss. Serves the Connections participants by assisting with the overall operation of the Social Day Program to include programming, food service, and administrative support. Duties include participant assistance, program planning and/or implementation, information and assistance, transportation coordination.
STARTING SALARY IS $20 HOURLY
- - - The position work days are Monday through Friday and approximately 25-30 hours per week. - - -- ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Include the following. Other duties may be assigned.
Assists with maintaining a safe environment for individuals experiencing cognitive impairment and/or memory loss.
Provides supervision, cueing and/or hands-on assistance to meet activities of daily living including assistance with feeding, continence management, transferring, and ambulation.
Supports and assists with the food service component of the congregate meal program including serving, oversight, and cleaning following the meal.
Provide supervision of participants during transitions and while participating in program activities.
Develops and lead programs serving a diverse older adult population.
Provide back-up coverage for other staff as needed.
May provide support to programs held within the 50 Center.
- MINIMUM REQUIRED EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE
Associate's degree and/or a minimum of one (1) year related experience or equivalent combination of education and experience.
PREFERRED EDUCATION, KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES:Certified Occupational Therapist Assistant (COTA) licensure; Healthcare Background and/or Licensed Healthcare professional
Knowledgeable about cognitive impairment, including memory loss.
Ability to work on cooperative, courteous, and effective basis with the general public, especially adults living with disabilities and their caregivers
Strong interpersonal skills, excellent oral and written communication skills and the ability to work well with an ethnically diverse population.
Strong computer proficiency especially with Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Power Point), database management and spreadsheet applications.
Proficiency in virtual platforms and use of technology for human services delivery.
