Admissions Counselors serve as official representatives of Towson University, providing top-notch customer service and relationship-building to prospective undergraduate students. As a member of the Admissions Recruitment Team, the selected individual values higher education and a diverse workplace, aiding in the successful strategic recruitment and enrollment of qualified students.

Recruitment Territory Management:

  • Visiting high schools, community colleges, attending college fairs within an assigned territory.

  • Participate in workshops/panels both in-person and virtually throughout the year.

  • Serve as liaison to develop relationships with high school counselors, alumni, and community-based organizations to enhance the network and brand of TU.

  • Provide recruitment support as needed for office-wide recruitment events & outreach efforts.

  • Utilize data and enrollment trends to develop a recruitment and outreach strategy for their territory and complete a territory report and analysis to assist with recruitment & outreach efforts.

Enrollment Counseling:

  • Counsel prospective, admitted, and enrolled undergraduate students on admission to TU.

  • Represent TU by providing excellent customer service and information to all prospective students and families via phone, chat, and email, as well as in-person and virtual meetings.

  • Understand admissions policies and requirements and serve as a resource to ensure success within the Admissions Recruitment Team.

  • Assist with various marketing activities; conduct information presentations both on- and off-campus throughout the year.

Admission Processing:

  • Evaluate undergraduate student applications for admission and scholarship awards to Towson University through a holistic review process.

  • Responsible for entering and maintaining recruitment, application, and enrollment data.

Other Duties as Assigned:

  • Complete general admissions duties including, but not limited to, customer service, applicant processing, holistic review, on-campus events, special projects, campus committees, and any other duties as assigned as need to meet the needs of enrollment and the goals of the university.

Must be able to work evening and weekend hours with overnight in-state and out-of-state travel.

Telework may be available for this position up to two days per week following the completion of 90 days of service in good standing.

  • Bachelor’s degree
  • Must possess a valid driver’s license and the ability to become an approved TU driver
  • Excellent oral, written and interpersonal skills with the ability to present to small and large groups of people in various types of venues
  • The successful candidate will be a team player with a strong work ethic
  • Must be interested in and attentive to cross-cultural communication who actively contributes to a high-volume, fast-paced environment office setting
  • Must possess strong analytical skills and the ability to work independently
  • Ability to occasionally lift 30lbs and stand on feet for long periods of time
  • The familiarity and effective use of technology is critical to the success of this position and the overall operation of the Office of Admissions

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Familiarity with student information or client relationship management systems
  • Prior experience with a college admission office (i.e., orientation leader or tour guide)
  • Ability to travel independently and on short notice
